More Cat Mews…and other things of interest…

October 27, 2009

As usual, Terry was very busy today! Between scooping litter boxes in the Kitty Lodge and feeding her own pets she was socializing a feral momma and 2 kittens, checking on the ferals that were altered on the 21st, and running cats to the vet and to the spay/neuter clinic. She took 4 cats in to be spay/neuter today.

First of all, we have 4 very beautiful and super sweet kitties that really want to be adopted. They are Ben, Jerry, Brewsters & Breyers, also known as the Ice Cream kitties! They are all neutered, up to date on their vaccinations and very healthy and any one (or two!) of them would make a wonderful addition to your family. You can see them at the top of the Adoptable Kitty page.

fogle kittensRecently, a family in Monroe (NC) reached out to the rescue community for help with a cat overpopulation problem on their property…and in their home. They are very nice folks and they had some of the cats fixed, but unfortunately they had a turn of bad luck and couldn’t continue paying for the spay/neuters. Mr. F. was laid off and Mrs. F. is very sick with big medical bills. Well, between the time that Mr. F. was laid off and the time he contacted rescuers…you guessed it…more kittens showed up.  You can see 9 or 10 in the photo and there are at least 5 other kittens as  well as a few adults in the house.

There are also a few feral cats outside; Terry trapped 2 of the ferals yesterday and took them to the Charlotte Humane Society today to be altered. Unfortunately, one of the ferals was very, very sick and also tested positive and so the poor fellow  had to be euthanized. The other feral, a female, was spayed and will be returned.

All together there are about 20 cats that need to be spayed/neutered. As you can see in the photo the kittens are very cute and they are all very well socialized and friendly, and they need to be placed with adopters or rescue groups as soon as possilbe.
